DUBAI // Millions of captagon pills with an estimated street value of Dh65 million have been seized and two Arab men have been arrested.
Dubai Police anti-narcotics department found 6.5 million of the amphetamine tablets hidden in metal pipes, which were bound for export to another Arabian Gulf country.
The two Arabs, A A A and A N S, who are from the same unnamed country, are said to have received the drugs in a shipment that arrived at Jebel Ali Port and stored the pills in Fujairah before bringing them to Ras Al Khor industrial area. Police set up an operation to track the duo and the drugs after receiving trusted information from a source about their plans.
A A A was arrested at his home near Dragonmart and he led police to where the drugs had been stored in 165 pipes on a lorry.
A N S, was arrested at his workplace, a fruit and vegetable company in Al Aweer.
A report has been sent to prosecutors and the pair will be charged with possessing drugs with the intent of dealing and exporting.
