A diversion in place on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road due to flooding has been lifted, authorities announced on Wednesday.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority had on Tuesday urged motorists approaching the Jebel Ali stretch of the key transport link to use alternative routes.
The authority said the road closure was implemented due to “water accumulation”, in a message on X at 6.22am on Tuesday.
“RTA’s teams are dealing with situation to restore smooth traffic flow,” the authority stated.
The RTA said traffic was "back to normal" in a further message posted shortly after 6am on Wednesday.
Traffic was flowing freely on Sheikh Zayed Road on Wednesday morning after unstable weather had caused major disruption on road networks in Dubai and the rest of the Emirates on Monday and Tuesday.
Drivers headed to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday were asked to use Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road.
Motorists coming from Abu Dhabi were advised to travel on Seih Shuaib Street, towards Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road.
The National Centre of Meteorology forecasts sunny days ahead in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, although the Northern Emirates have not seen the last of the wet weather.
The weather centre said temperatures would reach highs of 27°C in Dubai and 26°C in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and Thursday, with more rain expected on both days in Fujairah.
Temperatures will approach 30°C in Dubai and Abu Dhabi on Friday and Saturday, the NCM's online weather map predicts.
