President Sheikh Mohamed held high-level talks with leaders from across the region on Wednesday.

Sheikh Mohamed welcomed Oman's Sultan Haitham, Sheikh Tamim, the Emir of Qatar, and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi of Egypt, on their arrival in Abu Dhabi for the fraternal consultative meeting, which also involved Jordan and Bahrain.

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed, National Security Adviser, were also present at the Presidential Airport.

Bahrain's King Hamad and King Abdullah II of Jordan arrived in the capital earlier to take part in the summit, which was convened by Sheikh Mohamed.

The leaders held their discussions at the St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.

They reviewed friendly ties between the nations and aspects of co-operation aimed at bolstering stability and prosperity in the region, state news agency Wam said.

They also discussed regional and international developments, as well as the challenges the Middle East is experiencing politically, economically and in matters of security.

The leaders spoke about the importance of co-ordinating positions and strengthening joint Arab action in dealing with these issues, to ensure a more stable future for the region.

They reiterated their nations' long-standing historical ties and their keenness on communication, consultation and continuous co-ordination towards any changes in the region and the world.

They stressed that co-operation in building economic and development partnerships between their countries and other Arab nations is the way to create a better future for everyone in the region.

The leaders also affirmed their common vision of enhancing stability and prosperity and their firm belief in the importance of communication for the sake of construction, development and prosperity.

They also highlighted the importance of adhering to the rules of good neighbourliness, respect for sovereignty and not interfering in internal affairs.

Sheikh Mohamed and the leaders affirmed that co-operation and building economic partnerships between their countries, and among Arabs in general, is the best approach to achieving development and creating a better future for the people of the region amid a turbulent world.

Dr Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the President, said the summit is a continuation of meetings of friendly Arab nations hosted by the UAE and was important in terms of co-operation and dialogue in the region.

“The stability and prosperity of the region and its readiness to face upcoming challenges and benefits depend on the co-operation and co-ordination of its countries,” Dr Gargash said on Twitter.

“The approach of communication, dialogue and solidarity must be the language of the coming decades.”

Decision-makers across the Arab world regularly meet to strengthen long-standing links and explore ways to enhance relations.

Sheikh Mohamed and Mr El Sisi joined King Hamad, King Abdullah, and Mustafa Al Kadhimi, then prime minister of Iraq, at a gathering in Egypt in August.

Mr El Sisi hosted a banquet in honour of his guests.

He and Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Bahraini, Jordanian and Iraqi leaders on their arrival at El Alamein International Airport.

They discussed the ties binding the five Arab countries, based on brotherhood, compassion, mutual respect and interests.
