One man has died and 11 others were injured in six separate traffic accidents in Dubai on Friday.
Dubai police said the accidents were caused by motorists disobeying traffic laws.
A cyclist was killed in the first incident when his bike crashed into a vehicle reversing towards a missed exit, while a second collision the same day involved a speeding car and a lorry on Emirates Road.
In a third accident on Friday, three people were injured when two vehicles collided in Discovery Garden.
"One of the cars jumped the red light signal and crashed into another car," said Col Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Directorate of Traffic at Dubai Police.
Another crash on Friday on Rebat Road involved a motorcycle and two cars that failed to keep a safe distance between them.
In the fifth accident, a man was severely injured after he was hit by a car Sharjah-bound on Emirates Road.
“This accident happened when the pedestrian was crossing the road from an undesignated area,” said Col bin Suwaidan.
The last accident on Friday involved a police patrol car being crashed into by another vehicle on Emirates Road heading towards Dubai. The officers were attending to another accident when a car veered off the road and crashed into their cruiser.
"The impact of the crash caused the car to bounce back and flip over before landing in the middle of the road,” said the official.
Four people sustained mild injuries in the accident.
The day before, a collision between two cars on the Dubai - Al Ain road caused one motorist to suffer severe injuries. A few feet from Ruwayyah Bridge, a driver swerved suddenly to the right and crashed into another car that had slowed down.
And on Saturday, a collision on Al Quoz Industrial area 1, a car swerved into the path of a motorcycle leaving the rider in a serious condition.
Another collision on Al Khawaneej Road the same day left a motorcycle rider in urgent need of help after the driver of the car that hit him left the scene of the incident.
The senior police official warned against excessive speeding, improper overtaking, sudden swerving and distracted driving.

The United kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United Arab Emirates; Considering that the United Arab Emirates has assumed full responsibility as a sovereign and independent State; Determined that the long-standing and traditional relations of close friendship and cooperation between their peoples shall continue; Desiring to give expression to this intention in the form of a Treaty Friendship; Have agreed as follows:
ARTICLE 1 The relations between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United Arab Emirates shall be governed by a spirit of close friendship. In recognition of this, the Contracting Parties, conscious of their common interest in the peace and stability of the region, shall: (a) consult together on matters of mutual concern in time of need; (b) settle all their disputes by peaceful means in conformity with the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations.
ARTICLE 2 The Contracting Parties shall encourage education, scientific and cultural cooperation between the two States in accordance with arrangements to be agreed. Such arrangements shall cover among other things: (a) the promotion of mutual understanding of their respective cultures, civilisations and languages, the promotion of contacts among professional bodies, universities and cultural institutions; (c) the encouragement of technical, scientific and cultural exchanges.
ARTICLE 3 The Contracting Parties shall maintain the close relationship already existing between them in the field of trade and commerce. ARTICLE 4 This Treaty shall enter into force on today’s date and shall remain in force for a period of ten years. Unless twelve months before the expiry of the said period of ten years either Contracting Party shall have given notice to the other of its intention to terminate the Treaty, this Treaty shall remain in force thereafter until the expiry of twelve months from the date on which notice of such intention is given.
