Thick fog blanketed parts of Abu Dhabi on Tuesday morning and speed limits were temporarily lowered on two roads in the emirate.
The murky weather settled over an area along the eastern border, near Al Ain.
Police warned drivers not to exceed 80 kilometres per hour on the Al Ain to Dubai road and the Sweihan to Al Ain road as the dense fog reduced visibility to less than a kilometre.
The fog is expected to lift by 9.30am, leaving a mostly sunny day with highs of up to 25°C and 26°C in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
It will be hazy at times, forecasters at the National Centre of Meteorology said.
Winds will be light to moderate, strengthening at times.
Conditions will be moderate, becoming rough by night offshore in the Arabian Gulf. It will be calm to moderate in the Oman Sea.
Humidity will return overnight, again raising the risk of fog or mist over some areas inland.
The weather will be similar on Wednesday, with fair to partly cloudy skies and the return of humidity overnight.
Temperatures will begin to climb on Thursday, reaching highs of the mid-30s in Dubai and Abu Dhabi on Friday and Saturday, before falling back to the low 30s on Sunday.

The flights
Etihad and Emirates fly direct to Kolkata from Dh1,504 and Dh1,450 return including taxes, respectively. The flight takes four hours 30 minutes outbound and 5 hours 30 minute returning.
The trains
Numerous trains link Kolkata and Murshidabad but the daily early morning Hazarduari Express (3’ 52”) is the fastest and most convenient; this service also stops in Plassey. The return train departs Murshidabad late afternoon. Though just about feasible as a day trip, staying overnight is recommended.
The hotels
Mursidabad’s hotels are less than modest but Berhampore, 11km south, offers more accommodation and facilities (and the Hazarduari Express also pauses here). Try Hotel The Fame, with an array of rooms from doubles at Rs1,596/Dh90 to a ‘grand presidential suite’ at Rs7,854/Dh443.
