A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after dismembered body parts were found at a rubbish site in Sharjah.
The body of a man was discovered by waste management company workers, who raised the alarm.
Police sorted through 1,500 tonnes of waste to look for evidence and more body parts. No date or location was disclosed by police.
The victim was an Asian male in his 40s who worked as a driver for a company in the emirate, police said.
“Criminal investigations officers had to put in double the efforts to track down the suspect of this hideous crime,” said Col Omar Ahmed Abu Al Zoud, head of CID.
“The suspect, who carries the same nationality as the victim, was arrested within 12 hours of identifying the deceased and he admitted to the crime in detail.”
During questioning, the man told police he had killed his victim over a personal dispute, then chopped his body into pieces to hide his identity, before dumping them.
The case has been transferred to the public prosecutors for further investigation before being sent to court.

What is dialysis?
Dialysis is a way of cleaning your blood when your kidneys fail and can no longer do the job.
It gets rid of your body's wastes, extra salt and water, and helps to control your blood pressure. The main cause of kidney failure is diabetes and hypertension.
There are two kinds of dialysis — haemodialysis and peritoneal.
In haemodialysis, blood is pumped out of your body to an artificial kidney machine that filter your blood and returns it to your body by tubes.
In peritoneal dialysis, the inside lining of your own belly acts as a natural filter. Wastes are taken out by means of a cleansing fluid which is washed in and out of your belly in cycles.
It isn’t an option for everyone but if eligible, can be done at home by the patient or caregiver. This, as opposed to home haemodialysis, is covered by insurance in the UAE.
