UAE weather: chilly and damp start to week but no rain forecast

A cool and overcast start to Sunday will give way to warm sunshine for much of the UAE by the afternoon.

The day will begin with clouds in most coastal areas and temperatures pinned down to just 19ºC.

Mist and fog is also likely for some parts but, as the day warms up, this should clear by noon – with temperatures in Abu Dhabi and Dubai climbing to 25ºC.

The country will see lows 13ºC on the coast and 6ºC in mountainous areas.

Overnight humidity will cause further mist and fog patches with possible reduced visibility into Monday and more cloud and cooler temperatures, but it will remain dry this week.

A similar weather pattern is forecast until at least Wednesday, with light to moderate winds from the north.

In Oman, temperatures were close to freezing point in some areas this weekend. In Khasab in Musandam it was 0.4ºC on Friday morning.

New UK refugee system

  • A new “core protection” for refugees moving from permanent to a more basic, temporary protection
  • Shortened leave to remain - refugees will receive 30 months instead of five years
  • A longer path to settlement with no indefinite settled status until a refugee has spent 20 years in Britain
  • To encourage refugees to integrate the government will encourage them to out of the core protection route wherever possible.
  • Under core protection there will be no automatic right to family reunion
  • Refugees will have a reduced right to public funds
