Authorities have launched services to help doctors living in the UAE to obtain long-term residency.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) and the Ministry of Health and Prevention have started to streamline the application procedure, state news agency Wam reported on Monday.

The golden visa – a long-term residency initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai – recognises experts in various fields who play a pivotal role in supporting the nation’s progress. It also attracts skilled workers to the UAE.

Last month, doctors on the front line of the pandemic were encouraged to apply for golden visas in recognition of their contribution towards health care in the country.

Doctors in the UAE qualify for the golden visa, which provides long-term residency in the country, as well as scientists and doctorate holders.

All doctors licensed by the country’s health regulatory bodies can apply for the golden visa from now until September at smartservices.ica.gov.ae. Doctors licensed to practise in Dubai can apply at smart.gdrfad.gov.ae.

Maj Gen Suhail Al Khaili, acting director general of the ICA, said the decision to offer golden visas to all non-Emirati doctors based in the UAE paid tribute to their efforts in containing Covid-19, Wam reported.

Dr Mohammad Al Olama, undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention and chairman of the Emirates Health Services Establishment, said the initiative would develop medical tourism and the domestic health sector.

Going grey? A stylist's advice

If you’re going to go grey, a great style, well-cared for hair (in a sleek, classy style, like a bob), and a young spirit and attitude go a long way, says Maria Dowling, founder of the Maria Dowling Salon in Dubai.
It’s easier to go grey from a lighter colour, so you may want to do that first. And this is the time to try a shorter style, she advises. Then a stylist can introduce highlights, start lightening up the roots, and let it fade out. Once it’s entirely grey, a purple shampoo will prevent yellowing.
“Get professional help – there’s no other way to go around it,” she says. “And don’t just let it grow out because that looks really bad. Put effort into it: properly condition, straighten, get regular trims, make sure it’s glossy.”
