Ajman's mangroves are ready to welcome a new neighbour, with Zoya Health & Wellbeing Resort opening in the UAE's smallest emirate.
The UAE's first five-star holistic wellness retreat will welcome overnight guests from April 22.
The 61-room resort is billed as the first of its kind in the region and will offer a wide variety of holistic wellness treatments, complemented by a plant-based menu and a varied selection of leisure activities.
Located in Al Zorah, the resort has several health professionals on staff including doctors, wellness specialists and nutritionists. Every guest checking in will undergo a full health assessment before being given an individual, personalised agenda designed to address individual needs or concerns.
Travellers checking in have to spend a minimum of two nights in residence, with some of the treatment plans involving stays of up to two weeks. Customised plans of various durations can also be created on request.
The shortest treatment plan is Zoya's well-cation package, which is aimed at short-term travellers, including UAE residents.
Running over three days and two nights, it includes a doctor's consultation and diagnostic, health and wellness consultations, after which guests will get a personalised nutrition plan consisting of vegan meals which will be served in the resort's dining spaces. The plan also includes curated health treatments and activities, as well as unlimited use of the spa facilities, swimming pool and the surrounding natural areas.
Priced from Dh3,060 per night, these short retreats are billed as a way to improve digestion, relieve stress and help alkalise guests' bodies.
Other plans range in length of stay, with the weight management programme the longest at 14 nights and 15 days.
Using therapeutic fasting to manage weight loss and build new habits, this plan encompasses IV therapies, toxin removal treatments, sports and more to aid those looking for healthy weight loss. Starting from Dh2,916 per night, the cost of the two-week programme runs to more than Dh40,000.
Alternative treatment plans are offered over six nights and seven days and include detox, anti-ageing, physiotherapy and rehabilitation plans.
Royal Suite: an in-room Turkish hammam and private sauna
Surrounded by 12 kilometres of mangroves that are home to rich biodiversity, including 58 species of birds, the resort's rooms and suites overlook the endless greenery. The boutique-style health retreat is located on Al Zorah Golf Club, and is sure to be a hit with golf enthusiasts.
Rooms are spacious and designed to promote relaxation. Guests can expect a minimalist design with neutral tones inspired by the surrounding landscapes. Deluxe suites come with private terraces. The Royal Suite spans 120 square metres and has a private Turkish hammam, infrared sauna and couples massage room for the ultimate pampering escape.
Stays will be different for each guest, with retreats tailored to suit each person's individual concerns. Travellers may be offered metabolic treatments, holistic therapies, physical exercises or spiritual sessions. The medical arm of the resort is being operated by Premedion, a world-renowned German spa and health specialist.
When it comes to dining, all meals are included with each stay and the resort has a clean food policy that is strictly vegetarian and vegan. At Zoya's Raw Food Restaurant and stylish Juice Bar, expect items such as cold-pressed juices, organic salads and low-calorie desserts.
Fitness will be another key focus at the resort with a medical gym, hydro-gym, personal trainer sessions and fitness classes on offer. Guests can also enjoy a round of golf, a walk among the sand dunes or a kayak through the mangroves.
Daily schedules for each guest will encompass various activities such as morning sunrise mediation, sunset yoga, mangrove exploration and spa treatments. Beauty treatments including manicures, hairdressing services and make-up sessions are also available.

How Islam's view of posthumous transplant surgery changed
Transplants from the deceased have been carried out in hospitals across the globe for decades, but in some countries in the Middle East, including the UAE, the practise was banned until relatively recently.
Opinion has been divided as to whether organ donations from a deceased person is permissible in Islam.
The body is viewed as sacred, during and after death, thus prohibiting cremation and tattoos.
One school of thought viewed the removal of organs after death as equally impermissible.
That view has largely changed, and among scholars and indeed many in society, to be seen as permissible to save another life.
