One of the world’s most renowned luxury hotel brands is headed to Oman for the first time.

The Four Seasons Resort and Private Residences Muscat, Oman, is set to open in the sultanate’s capital.

The urban-style seaside resort will have sweeping ocean views and the Hajar Mountains as a backdrop.

With 200 rooms and suites, a private beach, five dining outlets and indoor and outdoor pools, the resort will give travellers another luxury place to stay when visiting Oman.

Making the most of its location along the Gulf of Oman, the resort will offer several water sports.

Children will be welcome at the family-friendly resort and will be well catered for at the Kids for All Seasons club, while teenagers will have their own entertainment centre.

Known for its outstanding properties, service and dining options, Four Seasons is developing the resort in what was formerly a yacht club and marina.

There will also be 100 private residences for guests who want a luxury place to stay year-round. All private residents will have open access to the service and amenities across the resort.

“Muscat is a destination filled with history, natural beauty, business, tourism and so much more, and we look forward to showcasing all it has to offer through this exceptional new project with Four Seasons,” said Hashil Obaid Al Mahrouqi, chief executive of Oman Tourism Development Company.

It’s not the only new Four Seasons headed to the Middle East in the near future.

The Four Seasons Resort and Private Residences Muscat, Oman, joins a growing collection of properties in the region.

In the pipeline are the soon-to-open Four Seasons Private Residences Dubai at Jumeirah, along the banks of Dubai Water Canal, and the Four Seasons Hotel Diriyah, Saudi Arabia which will open at a 300-year-old site just outside of Riyadh.

Recipe

Garlicky shrimp in olive oil
Gambas Al Ajillo

Preparation time: 5 to 10 minutes

Cooking time: 5 minutes

Serves 4

Ingredients

180ml extra virgin olive oil; 4 to 5 large cloves of garlic, minced or pureed (or 3 to 4 garlic scapes, roughly chopped); 1 or 2 small hot red chillies, dried (or ¼ teaspoon dried red chilli flakes); 400g raw prawns, deveined, heads removed and tails left intact; a generous splash of sweet chilli vinegar; sea salt flakes for seasoning; a small handful of fresh flat-leaf parsley, roughly chopped

Method

Heat the oil in a terracotta dish or frying pan. Once the oil is sizzling hot, add the garlic and chilli, stirring continuously for about 10 seconds until golden and aromatic.

Add a splash of sweet chilli vinegar and as it vigorously simmers, releasing perfumed aromas, add the prawns and cook, stirring a few times.

Once the prawns turn pink, after 1 or 2 minutes of cooking,  remove from the heat and season with sea salt flakes.

Once the prawns are cool enough to eat, scatter with parsley and serve with small forks or toothpicks as the perfect sharing starter. Finish off with crusty bread to soak up all that flavour-infused olive oil.

WHAT ARE NFTs?

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are tokens that represent ownership of unique items. They allow the tokenisation of things such as art, collectibles and even real estate.

An NFT can have only one official owner at one time. And since they're minted and secured on the Ethereum blockchain, no one can modify the record of ownership, not even copy-paste it into a new one.

This means NFTs are not interchangeable and cannot be exchanged with other items. In contrast, fungible items, such as fiat currencies, can be exchanged because their value defines them rather than their unique properties.
