Ali Al Shouk

Ali Al Shouk

Ali is a Senior News Reporter at The National, overseeing daily news coverage in the UAE, breaking news, police, courts, crime, laws and foreign assignments. He studied chemistry in Baghdad but turned his passion for journalism into a career after the Iraq war in 2003. An Iraqi national and bilingual in Arabic and English, he worked for the Xinhua news agency and several newspapers in Iraq during one of the most dangerous and controversial periods of news coverage in the history of the Middle East. He has lived in the UAE since 2006 and worked with several English-language newspapers in the Emirates before joining The National.
