I started learning jiu-jitsu five years ago when Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al Nahyan invited me to try it. I had trained in wrestling for a long time before, but I wanted to give jiu-jitsu a go and Sheikh Tahnoon was very supportive. Within five years I have progressed from white belt to blue belt. I train three or four times a week, concentrating on sparring, physical conditioning work and running. Sometimes we train at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club - where Emirates Jiu-jitsu is based - and other times on the beach.
Jiu-jitsu is a very exciting sport to be involved in, especially in the UAE. It is a very new sport for this country, but it is growing fast. In May, Abu Dhabi hosted the first World Professional Cup for jiu-jitsu - the biggest competition ever held for the sport. Being a part of it was unbelievable. I competed in the blue belt under 88 KG category. The competition was tough, but I fought hard. My wrestling skills gave me an edge and I had confidence I could win.
Winning gold in my category was one of my proudest moments. Being one of the first Emirati jiu-jitsu fighters to compete in the World Professional Cup and to win is very special. We can say we were there for the beginning of the UAE's success in jiu-jitsu. Only a few will be able to say that. In October I travelled to America with the Emirates jiu-jitsu team to compete in the Renzo Gracie Cup in New York and the International Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Miami.
Competing in America was a wonderful new experience, especially as I won two gold medals in New York and one in Miami. It is great as people across the world are now taking us seriously as fighters. My ambition is to become the strongest fighter in my category, in jiu-jitsu and wrestling - and to win another gold at the second World Professional Cup in Abu Dhabi next year. Representing the UAE is very important to me. A lot of the time we organise competitions and tournaments in this country without actually competing in them.

Top tips to avoid cyber fraud
Microsoft’s ‘hacker-in-chief’ David Weston, creator of the tech company’s Windows Red Team, advises simple steps to help people avoid falling victim to cyber fraud:
1. Always get the latest operating system on your smartphone or desktop, as it will have the latest innovations. An outdated OS can erode away all investments made in securing your device or system.
2. After installing the latest OS version, keep it patched; this means repairing system vulnerabilities which are discovered after the infrastructure components are released in the market. The vast majority of attacks are based on out of date components – there are missing patches.
3. Multi-factor authentication is required. Move away from passwords as fast as possible, particularly for anything financial. Cybercriminals are targeting money through compromising the users’ identity – his username and password. So, get on the next level of security using fingertips or facial recognition.
4. Move your personal as well as professional data to the cloud, which has advanced threat detection mechanisms and analytics to spot any attempt. Even if you are hit by some ransomware, the chances of restoring the stolen data are higher because everything is backed up.
5. Make the right hardware selection and always refresh it. We are in a time where a number of security improvement processes are reliant on new processors and chip sets that come with embedded security features. Buy a new personal computer with a trusted computing module that has fingerprint or biometric cameras as additional measures of protection.

What is the definition of an SME?
SMEs in the UAE are defined by the number of employees, annual turnover and sector. For example, a “small company” in the services industry has six to 50 employees with a turnover of more than Dh2 million up to Dh20m, while in the manufacturing industry the requirements are 10 to 100 employees with a turnover of more than Dh3m up to Dh50m, according to Dubai SME, an agency of the Department of Economic Development.

When is the best time to start saving in a pension? The answer is simple – at the earliest possible moment. The first pound, euro, dollar or dirham you invest is the most valuable, as it has so much longer to grow in value.
