UAE face mammoth task against Scotland after struggles with the bat on Day 2

The UAE’s chastening start to their tour of UK and Ireland continued as their batsmen wilted in a similar fashion to their bowlers, on Day 2 of their match against Scotland.

The national team are playing a three-day friendly match against the Scots in Hampshire, England as practice for the Intercontinental Cup fixture against Ireland next week.

It has proved to be a tough assignment so far. Ahead of Thursday’s final day, the UAE are 42 for no loss in their second innings, a nominal 520 runs from victory.

The national team fell to a pitiful tally of 73 all out in their first innings, with Safyaan Sharif claiming five wickets.

Scotland had racked up 431 in their first innings. After firing the UAE out in quick time, they then posted a rapid 196 for four declared, leaving the national team having to bat all day to avoid defeat.
