SALT LAKE CITY – Stephen Curry scored 31 points, including six straight in overtime as Golden State continued its historic run for the NBA record for most wins in a regular season with a 103-96 overtime victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

The Warriors (68-7) surpassed last season’s victory total and must win five of their final seven games to break the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ record of 72-10.

“I love our competitive spirit,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “No matter what our record ends up, it almost doesn’t matter. It is just an incredible display of competition and fight night after night.”

The San Antonio Spurs, the Warriors’ closest rival in the Western Conference, beat the injury-depleted Pelicans 100-92 for their NBA record 38th straight home victory to open a season, topping the 37-0 start by the Bulls during their record season two decade go. Golden State has an existing 36-game home winning streak to open the season, giving the Warriors a chance to end up with the record.

“It doesn’t matter to me,” San Antonio point guard Tony Parker said. “No. Championship (is all that matters).”

Why seagrass matters
  • Carbon sink: Seagrass sequesters carbon up to 35X faster than tropical rainforests
  • Marine nursery: Crucial habitat for juvenile fish, crustations, and invertebrates
  • Biodiversity: Support species like sea turtles, dugongs, and seabirds
  • Coastal protection: Reduce erosion and improve water quality

UAE currency: the story behind the money in your pockets
Why are asylum seekers being housed in hotels?

The number of asylum applications in the UK has reached a new record high, driven by those illegally entering the country in small boats crossing the English Channel.

A total of 111,084 people applied for asylum in the UK in the year to June 2025, the highest number for any 12-month period since current records began in 2001.

Asylum seekers and their families can be housed in temporary accommodation while their claim is assessed.

The Home Office provides the accommodation, meaning asylum seekers cannot choose where they live.

When there is not enough housing, the Home Office can move people to hotels or large sites like former military bases.
