JR Smith came off the bench to score 41 points and spark the Denver Nuggets to a 124-104 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
Smith's tally included 10 three-pointers as the NBA's leading scorer Carmelo Anthony added 24 points to help the Nuggets return to winning ways at home following two road defeats.
Jamal Crawford had a team-high 24 points for the Hawks (20-8) who entered the contest on the back of seven wins in eight and are enjoying one of their best starts in franchise history.
Forced to play again without their starting point guard Chauncey Billups, who has a groin injury, the Nuggets charged into the lead from the outset and blew the game open in the fourth quarter when Smith knocked in four three-pointers.

Elsewhere, the NBA Southeast Division leaders Orlando Magic won a third successive game as Dwight Howard played a key role in their 102-87 victory over the Houston Rockets.

Closing the loophole on sugary drinks
As The National reported last year, non-fizzy sugared drinks were not covered when the original tax was introduced in 2017. Sports drinks sold in supermarkets were found to contain, on average, 20 grams of sugar per 500ml bottle.
The non-fizzy drink AriZona Iced Tea contains 65 grams of sugar – about 16 teaspoons – per 680ml can. The average can costs about Dh6, which would rise to Dh9.
Drinks such as Starbucks Bottled Mocha Frappuccino contain 31g of sugar in 270ml, while Nescafe Mocha in a can contains 15.6g of sugar in a 240ml can.
Flavoured water, long-life fruit juice concentrates, pre-packaged sweetened coffee drinks fall under the ‘sweetened drink’ category
