Sebastian Vettel cannot wait to unwrap the 2012 Red Bull F1 car

Sebastian Vettel, the two-time Formula One champion, said he is excited about the new Red Bull car for next season, which he hopes will deliver him a third consecutive title.

"We are all curious about the car. We see it coming together," he told the BBC.

"It's like a child being born. I'm not a father, but they tell me that's how it feels."

Vettel cruised to a runaway defence of his title this year to become, at 24 years and 98 days old, the youngest back-to-back F1 champion.

He joined a select club of nine drivers - Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Jack Brabham, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Mika Hakkinen, Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher - to successfully defend the title.

Vettel also established a record for most pole positions in a season, as his 15 (from 19 races) surpassed Nigel Mansell's previous mark set in 1992.

Vettel said he was enjoying the Christmas break after a long season.

"There isn't much of an off-season," he said, "so it's really important to use that to shut the system down, calm down and charge the batteries.

"Not forget about F1 but forget for a while about all the stress.

"It all starts from zero again and we all have the same chance. I'm looking forward to the competition. We are all very happy with this year, so it wouldn't be right to ask for more."

Soldier F

“I was in complete disgust at the fact that only one person was to be charged for Bloody Sunday.

“Somebody later said to me, 'you just watch - they'll drop the charge against him'. And sure enough, the charges against Soldier F would go on to be dropped.

“It's pretty hard to think that 50 years on, the State is still covering up for what happened on Bloody Sunday.”

The low down on MPS

What is myofascial pain syndrome?

Myofascial pain syndrome refers to pain and inflammation in the body’s soft tissue. MPS is a chronic condition that affects the fascia (connective tissue that covers the muscles, which develops knots, also known as trigger points).

What are trigger points?

Trigger points are irritable knots in the soft tissue that covers muscle tissue. Through injury or overuse, muscle fibres contract as a reactive and protective measure, creating tension in the form of hard and, palpable nodules. Overuse and sustained posture are the main culprits in developing trigger points.

What is myofascial or trigger-point release?

Releasing these nodules requires a hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure to release muscular shortness and tightness. This eliminates restrictions in connective tissue in orderto restore motion and alleviate pain. Therapy balls have proven effective at causing enough commotion in the tissue, prompting the release of these hard knots.
