Outcast Cassano will make his move to AC Milan in the New Year

Antonio Cassano's move to AC Milan will only be made official once the Serie A transfer window opens on January 2.

Reports in Italy claim the Sampdoria striker will, however, be allowed to join his new club at a training camp in Dubai later this month.

Samp and AC Milan reportedly reached an agreement for the transfer of the Italy international to the San Siro on Monday.

Cassano is set to sign a contract until June 2014 with the Rossoneri outfit.

The 28-year-old has not featured for Samp since being dropped from the squad back in October following a heated argument with Riccardo Garrone, the club president.

Samp attempted to rescind the player's contract but were unsuccessful.

However, Cassano was punished last week by an arbitration panel with his wages reduced by 50 per cent for the duration of his contract with Samp, which expires in June 2013.

The imminent arrival of Cassano to the San Siro has increased speculation that Ronaldinho could be on his way out of Milan.

The Brazilian has yet to sign a contract extension with the Serie A league leaders, with his current deal ending in June.

Milan resume their Serie A campaign at Cagliari on January 6.

They face Al Ahli, the 2008/09 Pro League champions, in Dubai for the Emirates Challenge Cup on January 2, as part of their winter training camp.

Elsewhere, the agent of Rafa Benitez, the Inter Milan coach, has denied reports he is to meet club president Massimo Moratti.

Gazzetta dello Sport yesterday claimed Moratti, who is currently in Madrid on business, would get together with Benitez's representative to discuss the former Liverpool manager's future.

However, Manuel Garcia Quilon told Italian national news agency Ansa: "No-one has contacted me and I don't have a meeting with Massimo Moratti lined up.

"Benitez wants to continue to do his job and coach so that the club improves."

On Monday, Benitez denied he had been sacked by Inter after growing speculation in Italy that Moratti has decided to fire the 50-year-old over his comments following the Club World Cup final in Abu Dhabi. The Spaniard issued a "back me or sack me" ultimatum following Saturday's 3-0 win over Congolese side TP Mazembe.

Elsewhere, Enzo Bearzot, who coached Italy to their first World Cup triumph in 44 years in 1982, died in Milan last night aged 83 after being ill for several years.
