Wednesday’s headline event at UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi has been made official, with both Michael Chiesa and Neil Magny coming in on weight.
The pair took to the scales on Tuesday at the newly opened Etihad Arena, with Chiesa weighing 107.5 lbs and Magny half a pound heavier. Returning later for their face-off, the welterweights struggled to keep a straight face as they eyeballed each other before bursting into laughter.
The five-round bout, which concludes the second of three events at UFC Fight Island, tops a card that includes Dubai-based Mounir Lazzez making his second UFC appearance. The Tunisian, who dazzled on debut back in July, takes on veteran Warlley Alves.
The promotion's third residency in Abu Dhabi comes to a close on Sunday, with the much-anticipated UFC 257. That event, the promotion's first pay-per-view show of the year, is headlined by Conor McGregor's lightweight clash against Dustin Poirier. It represents McGregor's first competitive appearance in more than a year, and is his Abu Dhabi debut.
