Brian Ortega marked his return to the octagon after almost two years with a dazzling unanimous-decision victory against “The Korean Zombie” Jung Chan-sung in Abu Dhabi on Sunday – and in the process set up a shot at the featherweight title.
Ortega, who hadn’t competed since suffering the only loss of his career, in December 2018, dominated the dangerous South Korean in the main event at UFC Fight Night at Flash Forum.
Having dropped Jung in the second round with a spinning elbow, Ortega eventually took all five rounds, winning 50-45 on each judge’s scorecard.
The Mexican-American is now expected to next face featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.
"We're gonna find out if I'm ready. In this game, you take chances, you don't grow in the comfort zone," said Ortega after the victory. "Alexander Volkanovski, you're the champ, the thought of fighting you is exciting. We're ready."
The latest UFC Fight Night represented the penultimate event on the five-show “Return to Fight Island”, the UFC’s second residency in Abu Dhabi.

Muslim Council of Elders condemns terrorism on religious sites
The Muslim Council of Elders has strongly condemned the criminal attacks on religious sites in Britain.
It firmly rejected “acts of terrorism, which constitute a flagrant violation of the sanctity of houses of worship”.
“Attacking places of worship is a form of terrorism and extremism that threatens peace and stability within societies,” it said.
The council also warned against the rise of hate speech, racism, extremism and Islamophobia. It urged the international community to join efforts to promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Ziina users can donate to relief efforts in Beirut
Ziina users will be able to use the app to help relief efforts in Beirut, which has been left reeling after an August blast caused an estimated $15 billion in damage and left thousands homeless. Ziina has partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to raise money for the Lebanese capital, co-founder Faisal Toukan says. “As of October 1, the UNHCR has the first certified badge on Ziina and is automatically part of user's top friends' list during this campaign. Users can now donate any amount to the Beirut relief with two clicks. The money raised will go towards rebuilding houses for the families that were impacted by the explosion.”
