Sasha Banks and Bayley become first Women's Tag champions as Daniel Bryan retains WWE title: WWE Elimination Chamber predictions

The road to WrestleMania 35 is getting real in the WWE. Things get a step closer on Sunday with the company's Elimination Chamber network special. The show is being held at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, and is being shown on the WWE Network, which is available in the UAE via OSN Sports, with the action due to start around 3am. Here is a rundown on the card and what to watch for on what should be a historic night of action. History will be made on Sunday with the first tag titles in the WWE’s women division crowned. Having it in an Elimination Chamber environment will certainly add gravitas to it, if not some pain, in among the steel and chains. Sasha and Bayley feel the sensible choices to win the match. The tag titles need strong first champions and this pair are the two biggest acts on the roster in the chamber. It feels like the WWE has been waiting an age for this moment and considering they have teased so much a Sasha v Bayley feud, to have stalled that for them not to be the first tag champions would be a big waste. Sasha and Bayley win the titles, probably over Nia Jax and Tamina as the final other pair, and they defend the titles at WrestleMania 35 and then drop them over the summer before starting a feud first teased in 2017. The fact Bryan lost first in the gauntlet match on Tuesday on SmackDown screams that as a result he will walk out on Sunday still as champion. Bryan has been amazing in the heel role and he should still have the title going into WrestleMania. It would not be surprising if Kingston is the final man he beats. Kingston had a superb showing on Tuesday and giving him some near falls to hint at an unlikely championship run could be great. Styles will eliminate Orton, with the Viper then attacking him post-match to set up their Mania match, with Samoa Joe and Hardy both having good moments too. But this is Bryan’s night. He has taken the ball and run with it and he stands tall again. There is no intrigue in the result here. Rousey is winning. That is not to say that is not going to be a bad match. Riott can go in the ring and she could bring a strong performance from Rousey. The fun here will be outside the ring. Charlotte Flair has said she will be there and there will almost certainly be a confrontation between her and her Mania opponent Rousey. Add in the fact the suspended, in storyline terms, Becky Lynch could also show up, and this could be another step towards the expected triple threat main event for New Jersey in April. This feels too soon to take the titles of the makeshift pair of McMahon and Miz. Usos are a great team and they could well be the men to dethrone the champions. But not on Sunday. McMahon and Miz are clearly temporary champions and a split will happen. It is just a case of when, but not yet is the verdict for this weekend. This, on paper, should be a walk in the park for Strowman. Corbin should be no match for him. He isn’t and he won’t be. But Corbin will get help from Drew McIntyre which will help give not only Corbin a shock win but the Scotsman a WrestleMania opponent in a vengeful Strowman. The fact this has been made no disqualification telegraphs the arrival of a Mr McIntyre at some point here. Strowman v McIntyre has not been done on PPV and this could be a good way of setting it up. Balor has a lot of momentum after his impressive performances at NXT UK TakeOver in Blackpool and at the Royal Rumble. He could win this by pinning Rush but that does not really prove anything. The numbers game catches up on him here. Rush is no joke in the ring and can hold his own, to an extent, and he helps wear Balor down for Lashley to win. Balor then can either chase a rematch or possibly go on to bigger and better things on the the SmackDown brand if Daniel Bryan is still looking for an opponent for Mania. Murphy is doing great as champion. This feels again like a filler feud. Tozawa is great in the ring, but there is no way Murphy is dropping the title to him, this close to WrestleMania, so this screams another successful title defence.
