Manny Pacquiao successfully defended his WBA welterweight world title against Keith Thurman on Saturday night, earning a split decision victory at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Competing in his 71st professional fight, 40-year-old Pacquiao (now 62-7-2 39KOs) controlled the majority of the bout as two judges awarded him the win 115-112, while the third judge stunned those watching by giving the fight 114-113 to Thurman (29-1-0).
