There were shocking scenes on the Formula One track this week when Haas' Romain Grosjean was involved in a horrific crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix last Sunday.
The French driver collided with a barrier on the opening lap and his car turned into a fireball from which he managed to escape with just burns to his hands before being taken to hospital. Grosjean was discharged three days later after the accident that left his car split in two with one half left a burnt out shell.
Andy Sullivan shot a new course record 61 in the first round of the inaugural Golf in Dubai Championship.
The Englishman sank 11 birdies to end the opening day two strokes in front at the Fire Course of the Jumeirah Golf Estates.
In Champions League football, Chelsea striker Oliver Giroud became the oldest player to score a Champions League hat-trick when he hit four against Sevilla.
Aged 34 years and 63 days, Giroud also became the oldest to score a treble in the European Cup since Hungarian great Ferenc Puskas managed the feat in September 1965 for Real Madrid against Feyenoord.
Meanwhile, Barcelona forward Lionel Messi celebrated scoring against Osasuna by taking off his shirt to reveal a Newell's Old Boys jersey in tribute to the late Argentina legend Diego Maradona. But his good intentions failed to move Spanish football bosses as removing your top is a violation of La Liga rules and Messi was fined €600 ($726) for his troubles.
The shockwaves of Maradona's death continue to be felt in his home country. The home and offices of his doctor, Leopoldo Luque, were raided by police in Buenos Aires as they investigate whether there was negligence in Maradona's treatment following surgery.

Credit Score explained
What is a credit score?
In the UAE your credit score is a number generated by the Al Etihad Credit Bureau (AECB), which represents your credit worthiness – in other words, your risk of defaulting on any debt repayments. In this country, the number is between 300 and 900. A low score indicates a higher risk of default, while a high score indicates you are a lower risk.
Why is it important?
Financial institutions will use it to decide whether or not you are a credit risk. Those with better scores may also receive preferential interest rates or terms on products such as loans, credit cards and mortgages.
How is it calculated?
The AECB collects information on your payment behaviour from banks as well as utilitiy and telecoms providers.
How can I improve my score?
By paying your bills on time and not missing any repayments, particularly your loan, credit card and mortgage payments. It is also wise to limit the number of credit card and loan applications you make and to reduce your outstanding balances.
How do I know if my score is low or high?
By checking it. Visit one of AECB’s Customer Happiness Centres with an original and valid Emirates ID, passport copy and valid email address. Liv. customers can also access the score directly from the banking app.
How much does it cost?
A credit report costs Dh100 while a report with the score included costs Dh150. Those only wanting the credit score pay Dh60. VAT is payable on top.
