Abu Dhabi Sports Council have issued guidelines for the return of sport in the capital.
Activities in some sports will be permitted to restart from Monday, so long as “all staff and participants” wear masks and gloves.
The Sports Council have announced a number of precautionary measures for the reopening of establishments after the coronavirus lockdown.
Under 12s and over 60s will not be permitted to participate, and facilities will be limited to less than a third of their usual capacity of participants.
The measures include “a Covid-19 test for all technical staff and organisers before reopening, a maximum of 30 per cent of participants and installing thermal devices at entrances and training sites.”
“Phase one” of the reactivation applies to sports which make social distancing more obviously possible.
These are listed as equestrian activities, cycling, gymnastics, racquet sports, cricket, golf and sailing.
Participants and staff will be required to “maintain a social distance of no less than two metres”.
“In addition, all technical staff and participants must wear masks and gloves, and all equipment is to be sterilised,” the Sports Council wrote.
"Using the latest technology, such as @AlHosnApp, is advised.
“The plan will see institutions evaluated based on their adherence to precautionary measures and health and safety standards, which will determine transition to the next stage.”
The resumption follows the decision by Dubai Sports Council to resume sports training last week.
The currency conundrum
Russ Mould, investment director at online trading platform AJ Bell, says almost every major currency has challenges right now. “The US has a huge budget deficit, the euro faces political friction and poor growth, sterling is bogged down by Brexit, China’s renminbi is hit by debt fears while slowing Chinese growth is hurting commodity exporters like Australia and Canada.”
Most countries now actively want a weak currency to make their exports more competitive. “China seems happy to let the renminbi drift lower, the Swiss are still running quantitative easing at full tilt and central bankers everywhere are actively talking down their currencies or offering only limited support," says Mr Mould.
