Emirati fighter Mohammad Yahya stretched his Mixed Martial Arts record to 9-3 after a unanimous points decision over Jordanian Saleem Al Bakri at UAE Warriors 17 Arabia-2.
Yahya, the most experienced of the four Emiratis in the 13-fight card, improved his record in the 'Arabia' version of the promotion to two from two, at the Zayed Sports City’s Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
“There is no difference between the international and Arabia versions. They are as tough as it can be,” the Emirati said.
“I’m glad to keep my record in the Arabia version intact and am looking to take the momentum forward. I’m ready for whatever the organisation has for me.”
Mohammed Al Katheeri made a successful debut on the big stage. The Emirati, appearing in the opening fight in the card, dominated Egyptian Mosatafa El Hamy from the start and finished the fight with an elbow for a TKO in round three.
Abdullah Mohammed Ali took his record to 2-2 after victory over Medhat Hussein, also from Egypt. The Emirati brought his jiu-jitsu prowess to the ring to end the fight with a triangle choke.
The only blip in an otherwise good night for Emirati fighters was Yousef Al Housani’s first defeat in three appearances.
He suffered a TKO to Jordanian Faris Khaleel Asha in the second round through a leg injury.
