No England players in IPL auction list

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has announced a list of 51 players, including a player each from Holland and Canada, but none from England, for its third auction later this month. Hard-hitting batsman Kieron Pollard tops a list of eight West Indies players who have made the final list for the auction on January 19, while 11 players from Australia - two more than the nine from the initial list revealed last week - will feature in the auction.

Eion Morgan and Jonathan Trott were among eight England players who had featured in the long list of 96 players, but their names are among those dropped. Their availability for the third season of the IPL is believed to be the reason for them being left out. Each of the eight teams in the IPL will be allowed to spend a maximum of US$750,000 (Dh2.75m) at the auction, but it was still unclear how many spots are available as each team has a cap of 10 overseas players.
