More injury woe for New York Rangers

NEW YORK // The New York Rangers will be without top-line forwards Marian Gaborik and Chris Drury for several weeks after both were injured in the second period of their 4-3 home-opening loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night.

Gaborik will be out for two-to-three weeks because of a separated shoulder. Drury is expected to be sidelined for six weeks after he broke his left index finger for the second time - but in a different place - since the start of training camp.

Drury made his season debut on Friday night after sitting out New York's first two games. He was originally injured while blocking a shot during a training camp scrimmage on September 20.

The 34-year-old Drury was in the starting line-up on Friday at centre between Gaborik and Alex Frolov. Drury had replaced Erik Christensen, who injured a leg during the third period of New York's loss on Monday to the New York Islanders. Christensen is expected to be able to play on Monday when the Rangers host Colorado, the coach John Tortorella said.

New York also announced after Friday's loss that Vinny Prospal, who has yet to play this season because of a knee injury, will have surgery Tuesday and be out indefinitely.
