Milan back at the top

A late own goal from the Gereman Denis gifted AC Milan a 1-0 victory at home to Napoli to send them top of Italian Serie A. Denis headed Ronaldinho's free-kick into his own net with three minutes remaining - this just two minutes after Kaka had seen his penalty saved by Gennaro Iezzo. Real Madrid missed the chance to move level on points with Barcelona at the top of the Spanish Primera Liga table after conceding a late equaliser to draw 1-1 at Almeria on Sunday. Raul's first-half header looked as if it would be enough for Bernd Schuster's side, but Pablo Piatti scored an 82nd-minute leveller, which leaves Madrid in third place.

In the Ligue 1, Lyon opened up a four-point lead at the top after easing past Le Mans at the Stade Gerland. Monaco pulled clear of the drop zone and piled misery on Le Havre with a 3-2 win. * PA Sport
