The two most successful clubs in English football have met 190 times in official matches. Manchester United hold the upper hand with 75 victories to Liverpool's 64, with 51 draws. They meet in Miami on Monday night in the final of the International Champions Cup. Paul Oberjuerge takes a look at the past five meetings between these two juggernauts:

United 0-3 Liverpool, Mar 16, 2014

Steven Gerrard scored two penalties and Luis Suarez added a third as the visitors put another nail in manager David Moyes’s coffin. The BBC’s Robbie Savage wrote: “Liverpool battered them. United looked like strangers. Make no bones about it, it could have been six or seven.”

Javier Hernandez scored a volley from a Wayne Rooney corner in a League Cup third-round match at Old Trafford. Suarez was making his first appearance of the season for the visitors, following a 10-match ban for biting. It was United’s sixth successive home victory over Liverpool.

Liverpool 1-0 United, Sep 1, 2013

On his birthday, Daniel Sturridge steered home the winner in the fourth minute, and goalkeeper Simon Mignolet made it stand up, at Anfield, in the sides’ first meeting since 1986 without Sir Alex Ferguson in the United dugout.

United 2-1 Liverpool, Jan 13, 2013

Robin van Persie scored for the hosts and assisted on Patrice Evra’s header as the league leaders dominated the proceedings en route to their 20th championship. Sturridge got the goal for Liverpool, who fell 24 points adrift in the league race.

Liverpool 1-2 United, Sep 23, 2012

Gerrard scored early after the break to give Liverpool the advantage, but they were unable to hang on, playing with 10 after a Jonjo Shelvey red card. Rafael levelled, and Van Persie scored a controversial penalty in the 81st minute.
