Wuheida leads Godolphin's two-horse challenge in Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood

Last month Wuheida returned from a training setback to finish second behind Roly Poly in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket.

That outing, her first in more than nine months since winning the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac at Chantilly, must have done a world of good as the Godolphin filly gets ready to compete with eight horses in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes, the feature event on Day 3 of the Glorious Goodwood meeting today.

Godolphin are double-handed in the 1,600-metre race, with the Charlie Appleby-trained Sobetsu also in the running.

Watch Wuheida's comeback race

Winter, Aidan O’Brien’s three-time Group 1 winner, heads the field that also includes Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf scorer Queen’s Trust and Nezwaah, who was successful in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes during her latest outing.

Appleby fancies Wuheida’s chances, having been pleased with her form in the Falmouth Stakes.

“She looks to have come on for her seasonal reappearance and, if she can build on that run, it would make her very competitive,” Appleby said about the filly who was undefeated in two starts as a two-year-old.

“We are happy to let her take her chance on good or good-to-soft ground but, if it becomes too testing [following rain on Wednesday], then we may have to review the situation.”

Also from Amith Passela:

Meanwhile, Sobetsu made a winning reappearance in the Prix Saint-Alary at Deauville over 2,000m in May but unplaced behind Enable in the Investec Oaks in June over the extended 2,400m.

The Godolphin trainer said if the ground is soft, the conditions would suit his filly.

“She won the Prix Saint-Alary on soft ground,” Appleby added. “If she gets her ground and can repeat her performance at Deauville, then she won’t look out of place in this line up.”

Nezwaah, trained by Roger Varian and ridden by Andrea Atzeni in the silks of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid, was impressive in her two starts this season.

The four-year-old daughter of Dubawi won a Listed prize at Ayr before her victory in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes over O’Brien’s Rain Goddess at the Curragh a month ago.

However, the Ryan Moore-ridden Winter will be the one to beat on her current form.

She went down to stable companion Hydrangea in the 1,000 Guineas Trial at the Curragh on her seasonal reappearance and since reeled off three Group 1 victories in a row.

Winter clinched the 1,000 Guineas in her next outing and beat stable companion Roly Poly twice in her last two starts.

Ribchester upset

Ribchester was stunned by Here Comes When in a soggy running of the Sussex Stakes on Wednesday.

Ribchester was expected to get a third straight win after arch-rival Churchill was pulled out because of the heavy rain.

With the ground very soft at Goodwood, it was Here Comes When, under Jim Crowley, who powered through the rain to overtake a faltering Ribchester in the final furlong of the mile-long Group 1.

The Richard Fahey-trained Ribchester ran a strange race, leading from the front, before rallying in the final half-furlong to finish second after looking to have run out of gas.

Here Comes When, though, held on to win by a neck to give trainer Andrew Balding his first top-flight win since 2014. Lightning Spear finished third.

UAE currency: the story behind the money in your pockets
What is blockchain?

Blockchain is a form of distributed ledger technology, a digital system in which data is recorded across multiple places at the same time. Unlike traditional databases, DLTs have no central administrator or centralised data storage. They are transparent because the data is visible and, because they are automatically replicated and impossible to be tampered with, they are secure.

The main difference between blockchain and other forms of DLT is the way data is stored as ‘blocks’ – new transactions are added to the existing ‘chain’ of past transactions, hence the name ‘blockchain’. It is impossible to delete or modify information on the chain due to the replication of blocks across various locations.

Blockchain is mostly associated with cryptocurrency Bitcoin. Due to the inability to tamper with transactions, advocates say this makes the currency more secure and safer than traditional systems. It is maintained by a network of people referred to as ‘miners’, who receive rewards for solving complex mathematical equations that enable transactions to go through.

However, one of the major problems that has come to light has been the presence of illicit material buried in the Bitcoin blockchain, linking it to the dark web.

Other blockchain platforms can offer things like smart contracts, which are automatically implemented when specific conditions from all interested parties are reached, cutting the time involved and the risk of mistakes. Another use could be storing medical records, as patients can be confident their information cannot be changed. The technology can also be used in supply chains, voting and has the potential to used for storing property records.
