Salem bin Ghadayer rack up a trio of winners on Friday, including the Group 3 Jebel Ali Mile.
Blown By Wind under Xavier Ziani provided the Emirati trainer a shock win in the feature race.
Blown By Wind pulled clear inside the final 100 metres to complete a hat-trick of wins at Jebel Ali Racecourse for Bin Ghadayer after the stable’s first choice jockey Royston Ffrench took the first and third races on board Hyde Park and Hurry Up respectively.
A five-year-old Invincible Spirit gelding with five British victories to his name when trained by Mark Johnston came home four lengths clear of Secret Ambition, the 2019 winner of the race.
“Royston rode this horse at Meydan and they did very well to finish third having completely blown the start,” a delighted Ziani said of his biggest win in the UAE aboard Blown By Wind.
“To be honest I was actually pretty confident travelling here today because I have been riding him in the mornings and he is a very good horse. I think the Godolphin Mile will be a realistic target, but that is up to the boss.”
The three winners took Bin Ghadayer’s tally for the season to 21, three ahead of Ernst Oertel in the UAE Trainers' championship.
Ffrench set the ball rolling for Bin Ghadayer by taking the opener on Hyde Park, who was never behind in the 1,400m handicap.
The seven-year-old Oasis Dream gelding won for the third time, though it was his first locally after 15 previous UAE outings.
“He was very good today and really loved it out in front and it is nice that he has put his head back in front after quite a long while,” Ffrench said.
An hour later, the rider was celebrating a double on Hurry Up.
“He is only tiny, but he is very smart and he has a good turn of foot which he has shown again today,” Ffrench added.
“The UAE 2000 Guineas at Meydan would probably have to be a consideration now and he is a nice young colt.”
