ATLANTIC CITY // The former middleweight world champion Bernard Hopkins upset the current champion Kelly Pavlik with a unanimous points decision in a non-title fight on Saturday.
There were no knockdowns but the 43-year-old Hopkins defied his age by battering the slower, supposedly stronger Pavlik throughout the one-sided fight to inflict his first defeat as a professional.
Hopkins improved to 49-5-1 (win, loss, draw) by beating Pavlik, who was a 4-1 favourite.
The 26-year-old Pavlik lost for the first time in his 25-fight career in the same building where he became middleweight champion by knocking out Jermain Taylor last year.
Pavlik's World Boxing Council and World Boxing Organisation middleweight titles were not at stake, however, because the pay-per-view fight was contested at a catch weight of 170 pounds.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
