West Ham United manager David Moyes will have been pleased with the way his team have started the season.
Too close to the relegation zone for comfort last time round, the Hammers have enjoyed a solid start to the new campaign. They sit in the top half of the table, having enjoyed impressive wins over the likes of Wolves and Leicester, while securing draws with Spurs and Manchester City.
Making Czech midfielder Tomas Soucek's loan move from Slavia Prague into a £15 million ($20m) permanent one looks a sensible one, while the Hammers have also been able to get £100,000-a-week Jack Wilshere off their books after an injury-ravaged two seasons where the boyhood West Ham fan managed just 16 league appearances.
Striker Felipe Anderson, their £36m former record signing from Lazio, has been farmed out on loan to Porto after managing just 10 goals in 63 Premier League games.
Sebastian Haller, who replaced Anderson as their record buy after his £45m move from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019, is also West Ham's biggest-earner, edging Ukrainian forward Andriy Yarmolenko out of top spot.

What is Financial Fair Play?
Introduced in 2011 by Uefa, European football’s governing body, it demands that clubs live within their means. Chiefly, spend within their income and not make substantial losses.
What the rules dictate?
The second phase of its implementation limits losses to €30 million (Dh136m) over three seasons. Extra expenditure is permitted for investment in sustainable areas (youth academies, stadium development, etc). Money provided by owners is not viewed as income. Revenue from “related parties” to those owners is assessed by Uefa's “financial control body” to be sure it is a fair value, or in line with market prices.
What are the penalties?
There are a number of punishments, including fines, a loss of prize money or having to reduce squad size for European competition – as happened to PSG in 2014. There is even the threat of a competition ban, which could in theory lead to PSG’s suspension from the Uefa Champions League.
