After clinching the Premier League title in record-breaking fashion, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insisted the club would not spend big during the summer transfer window.
Klopp looked to be keeping his word when Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas was for some time the only new arrival at Anfield. However, weeks later and in the space of 48 hours, Spain international midfielder Thiago Alcantara arrived from Bayern Munich fresh from winning the Champions League, before Portuguese forward Diogo Jota joined from Wolves.
As well as boosting his ranks with what looks like some shrewd transfer business - even if Thiago has been limited by injury and illness thus far - Klopp has made sure to tie down a host of key players to new contracts.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all agreed new deals in recent months.
All of Liverpool's key players now have deals lasting until at least 2023, with the exception of Georginio Wijnaldum, whose current contract expires next summer, and 34-year-old James Milner (2022).

There are perhaps a few surprises in there, with Sadio Mane – undoubtedly one of Liverpool's best players – earning less than Naby Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Meanwhile, full-backs Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who are both so key to Liverpool's system and are two of the finest full-backs in the league, earn far less than squad players like Xherdan Shaqiri and Konstantinos Tsimikas, the latter of whom is merely back-up to Robertson.
