It has been a season of highs and lows for Southampton in 2020/21.
After a flying start to the campaign that saw Ralph Hasenhuttl's side briefly occupy top spot in the Premier League, a wretched run of form at the turn of the year - including six straight losses, 10 defeats in 12 games, and a 9-0 drubbing by Manchester United - sent the Saints tumbling down the table.
While their form has hardly been impressive since, Southampton have almost certainly done enough to secure their top-flight status for another year.
Their results in the cups reflect similar inconsistencies, having lost in the second round of the League Cup to second-tier Brentford while reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they face Leicester City.
As with every squad, some players have excelled for Southampton this season, while others have struggled.

Who is the highest paid player at Southampton?
Danny Ings is not only the top scorer at Southampton but the England striker is also the top earner.
Ings – who earns £75,000 per week according to Spotrac.com, an online team and player contract website – has been one of Southampton's standout players since he first joined the club on loan from Liverpool in 2018 before making the move permanent the following season.
Coincidentally, Ings is joined by a Liverpool loanee as the highest-paid player at Southampton. Much like Ings, Takumi Minamino moved to St Mary's in January in search of regular football, and the Japanese forward has impressed despite injuries.

Labour dispute

What is graphene?
Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms arranged like honeycomb.
It was discovered in 2004, when Russian-born Manchester scientists Andrei Geim and Kostya Novoselov were "playing about" with sticky tape and graphite - the material used as "lead" in pencils.
Placing the tape on the graphite and peeling it, they managed to rip off thin flakes of carbon. In the beginning they got flakes consisting of many layers of graphene. But as they repeated the process many times, the flakes got thinner.
By separating the graphite fragments repeatedly, they managed to create flakes that were just one atom thick. Their experiment had led to graphene being isolated for the very first time.
At the time, many believed it was impossible for such thin crystalline materials to be stable. But examined under a microscope, the material remained stable, and when tested was found to have incredible properties.
It is many times times stronger than steel, yet incredibly lightweight and flexible. It is electrically and thermally conductive but also transparent. The world's first 2D material, it is one million times thinner than the diameter of a single human hair.
But the 'sticky tape' method would not work on an industrial scale. Since then, scientists have been working on manufacturing graphene, to make use of its incredible properties.
In 2010, Geim and Novoselov were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics. Their discovery meant physicists could study a new class of two-dimensional materials with unique properties.
