Avoiding the offside flag is a vital string to every attacker's bow and one that has become trickier since the introduction of VAR.
Premier League players are finding their precious goals are being disallowed by the finest of margins once those pesky officials at Stockley Park in west London get involved.
At the weekend, Leeds United attacker Patrick Bamford was left furious after his fine finish was ruled out when it was deemed his arm was in an offside position.
Bamford, who has started the season in fine form with seven goals in eight games, also finds himself one of top victims of the linesman – and VAR – being flagged six times. He sits two behind early-season pace-setters Sadio Mane of Liverpool and Aston Villa's OIlie Watkins.
Last season, Burnley's Chris Wood (with 35 offsides) and Callum Wilson (32) of Bournemouth led the way, with Leicester's Jamie Vardy (28) third. All three feature again this time round, although Wilson now plies his trade with Newcastle United.
