Liverpool's Roberto Firmino was preferred in the lone striker's role to Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus and is likely to keep his place for the match against Venezuela. Hopes of Venezuela pulling off an upset rest largely on the shoulders of Solomon Rondon. The striker spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Newcastle United, scoring 11 goals to help Rafa Benitez's side secure Premier League survival. Rondon is his country's all-time leading scorer with 24 goals. Venezuela's best finish at the Copa America is third at the 2011 tournament.
