Manchester United went level with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League after their 2-1 win over Aston Villa - their highest New Year position since the days of Alex Ferguson.
It's an impressive run for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side after their Champions League exit, and promises an exciting second half of the season.
As they attempt to maintain a title challenge, David de Gea again tops the charts as the highest earner at Manchester United.
The Spaniard is now in his ninth season at Old Trafford, and for the first time in that period he has genuine competition for the No 1 position.
A costly mistake in last season's FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea had many questioning whether the Spaniard could be usurped this term by the returning Dean Henderson, who impressed on loan at Sheffield United last season as the blades finished eighth.
And while that may still be the case, it seems no one will dislodge De Gea as the club's top earner.
According to Spotrac, an online sports team and player contract website, the Spaniard still takes home the biggest wage packed at Old Trafford - a whopping £375,000 a week (more than Dh1.8 million).
That amounts to an annual salary of £19.5 million for the United No 1.

“One mistake people always make is adding extra wasabi. There is no need for this, because it should already be there between the rice and the fish.

Maros Sefcovic is juggling multiple international trade agreement files, but his message was clear when he spoke to The National on Wednesday.
The EU-UAE bilateral trade deal will be finalised soon, he said. It is in everyone’s interests to do so. Both sides want to move quickly and are in alignment. He said the UAE is a very important partner for the EU. It’s full speed ahead - and with some lofty ambitions - on the road to a free trade agreement.
We also talked about US-EU tariffs. He answered that both sides need to talk more and more often, but he is prepared to defend Europe's position and said diplomacy should be a guiding principle through the current moment.

What is Financial Fair Play?
Introduced in 2011 by Uefa, European football’s governing body, it demands that clubs live within their means. Chiefly, spend within their income and not make substantial losses.
What the rules dictate?
The second phase of its implementation limits losses to €30 million (Dh136m) over three seasons. Extra expenditure is permitted for investment in sustainable areas (youth academies, stadium development, etc). Money provided by owners is not viewed as income. Revenue from “related parties” to those owners is assessed by Uefa's “financial control body” to be sure it is a fair value, or in line with market prices.
What are the penalties?
There are a number of punishments, including fines, a loss of prize money or having to reduce squad size for European competition – as happened to PSG in 2014. There is even the threat of a competition ban, which could in theory lead to PSG’s suspension from the Uefa Champions League.
