Manchester City Football School in Dubai returns to two new indoor venues on Sunday with a coaching programme throughout June for boys and girls aged 12-18 years.
Dubai Sports Council has set out a series of guidelines for return of sports and the Manchester City Football School has met all criteria for a safe resumption.
These include temperature testing on arrival, sanitisation of all equipment every hour, non-contact practises, and social distancing along with personal safety equipment of gloves and masks for coaches and players.
The sessions will be held at two venues in Dubai – Koora Dome at Al Wasl and Just Play at Al Quoz – and the timings are from 6-7pm, Sunday to Thursday.
Manchester City Football Schools has been running in the UAE for 10 years and coaches use the same techniques as employed at Manchester City FC.
Head of Football Operations MENA, Simon Hewitt, said: “We have been working closely with the Dubai Sports Council and the venues to make sure we comply with all the required health and safety guidelines, and we are delighted to be welcoming back players.
“The sessions are open to all boys and girls aged between 12 and 18 years and of all abilities. This is very much about fun, getting back to sport, safe social interaction and good mental health for players. As a coaching team, we have designed sessions with this in mind and we can’t wait to get started.”

Countdown to Zero exhibition will show how disease can be beaten
Countdown to Zero: Defeating Disease, an international multimedia exhibition created by the American Museum of National History in collaboration with The Carter Center, will open in Abu Dhabi a month before Reaching the Last Mile.
Opening on October 15 and running until November 15, the free exhibition opens at The Galleria mall on Al Maryah Island, and has already been seen at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta, the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

British aristocrat Lord Carnarvon, who funded the expedition to find the Tutankhamun tomb, died in a Cairo hotel four months after the crypt was opened.

What is the FNC?
The Federal National Council is one of five federal authorities established by the UAE constitution. It held its first session on December 2, 1972, a year to the day after Federation.
It has 40 members, eight of whom are women. The members represent the UAE population through each of the emirates. Abu Dhabi and Dubai have eight members each, Sharjah and Ras al Khaimah six, and Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain have four.
They bring Emirati issues to the council for debate and put those concerns to ministers summoned for questioning.
The FNC’s main functions include passing, amending or rejecting federal draft laws, discussing international treaties and agreements, and offering recommendations on general subjects raised during sessions.
Federal draft laws must first pass through the FNC for recommendations when members can amend the laws to suit the needs of citizens. The draft laws are then forwarded to the Cabinet for consideration and approval.
Since 2006, half of the members have been elected by UAE citizens to serve four-year terms and the other half are appointed by the Ruler’s Courts of the seven emirates.
In the 2015 elections, 78 of the 252 candidates were women. Women also represented 48 per cent of all voters and 67 per cent of the voters were under the age of 40.
