Southampton knocked holders Arsenal out of the FA Cup on Saturday after an own-goal from Gabriel secured their place in the fifth round.

The Saints deservedly won the match thanks to the game's only goal in the first half when Gabriel turned in Kyle Walker-Peters' cross in the 24th minute.

It was the first goal Arsenal had conceded in 508 minutes as they suffered a first defeat in seven matches.

Southampton will now face another Premier League side in Wolves, who beat sixth-tier Chorley on Friday, in the next round.

Saints captain James Ward-Prowse said: "It's a good feeling for us. We deserved to win today. We're looking forward to the next round now.

"Our pressing was very good. We lacked that second goal to kill the game."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said:  "Really sad to be out of the competition. Disappointed to be out and the way we conceded.

"We had issues in the first half and unforced errors as a result of the high-press they do. In the second half we had two or three big chances but not enough."
