WOLVES RATINGS: Alex McCarthy - 5: Returned after FA Cup defeat to Wolves, had nothing to do until the penalty. No shame in being sent the wrong way by Neves, but will be disappointed to be beaten from a tight angle by Neto’s virtuoso winner. PA
Kyle Walker-Peters - 4: Stood up to Neto well in what was a good battle throughout the first half, then struggled when up against Jonny after the interval. Gave away ball for Wolves’ second goal, then withdrawn with injury soon after. EPA
Jan Bednarek - 5: There was no celebration on his 100th start for his club. Booked for a last-ditch foul on Neto out wide, although redeemed himself somewhat with a clearance from the subsequent free-kick. A sixth successive league defeat for his team will have hurt. Getty
Jannik Vestergaard - 4: Restored to the starting line-up, as for the majority was assured in possession, including one incredible cross-field pass to Walker-Peters. However, was left for dead by Neto en route to winger’s decisive goal. Beaten too easily. EPA
Ryan Bertrand - 4: Tenacious on the team’s left, although did play McCarthy into trouble not long before half-time. Was hugely unfortunate to give away penalty, when ball was driven at him from close range. Little he could do, but from there Wolves grew in confidence. AFP
Stuart Armstrong - 7: Off the back of an excellent display in the cup, he was a menace while on pitch. Supplied nice through ball to unleash Redmond, then glorious assists following great run to tee up side’s opener. Unlucky not to score with low, arrowed drive before being withdrawn. EPA
James Ward-Prowse - 6: A superb season personally continued through the first half, highlighted by some intelligent and intricate play at the heart of his side. Didn’t cope as well once Wolves stole the upper hand. Forced decent save from Patricio from range. AFP
Oriol Romeu - 5: Only surprise was it took 18 minutes to get his customary booking, when he cynically took out Moutinho with a body block. Was measured thereafter and neat and tidy in possession, before being overrun (like his side) in second half. AFP
Takumi Minamino - 5: Loan signing was back in the line-up having been cup-tied, and forced early low save from Patricio. However, soon drifted drastically out of the contest, and was deservedly replaced just after the hour. Evidently still finding feet there. EPA
Nathan Redmond - 6: Played in Minamino at start of proceedings, but wasteful in passing from there. Did force finger-tipped save from Patricio with curled effort, offset by total miscue from Ings cutback. Beautiful ball to Adams, who then got angles all wrong. AFP
Danny Ings - 7: Southampton’s master marksman gave the home team the lead in the first half with a cracking volley from Armstrong’s cross. Took him to nine league goals for the season. Little else, but for curling well over from edge of area midway through second half. AFP
SUBS: Moussa Djenepo - (On for Minamino 62'): Introduced as the visitors dominated proceedings, and was tasked with offering an outlet out wide on the right. Saw hardly anything of the ball, and marshalled well by the Wolves backline. Getty
Che Adams - (On for Armstrong 69') 5: Gave side a fresh impetus after coming on. Still hasn’t scored since mid-December, a stretch extended when Patricio smothered well his rebound. Mistimed horribly diving header from Redmond’s pinpoint cross. Getty
Mohammed Salisu (No live images) - (On for Walker-Peters 72') 6: Making his Premier League debut. Did well to nick ball from Neto as he cut inside and looked to shoot, then blocked from Traore. PA
WOLVES RATINGS: Rui Patricio - 8: Like his opposite number, back after last week’s cup tie. Made superb, one-handed save from Redmond in first half, and commanded area well from Ward-Prowse’s corner in second half to relieve pressure. Good double save from Ward-Prowse and Adams. AFP
Leander Dendoncker - 7: The versatile Belgian was deployed in defence, and was suitably robust when needed. Would’ve breathed a huge sigh of relief not to give away a penalty, when ducked and ball struck arm, but referee made correct call. Steady throughout. AFP
Conor Coady - 7: Badly missed against Saints three days previously, the captain was back to bring calm to his defence. After a difficult first half for the visitors, stood strong. Was in right place at right time at one point to divert wide Armstrong’s goal-bound shot. PA
Romain Saiss - 6: Distribution well below standard required, and then booked at start of second half for a studs-up lunge – despite his protestations. Looked shaky for much of the 90 minutes, although found the game easier to manage as his side gained a foothold. AFP
Nelson Semedo - 7: Returning to his traditional right-back role, was as enterprising as could be. His foray forward and drive won the penalty that got his team back into the match. Did well on cover to prevent Ings from racing free. Otherwise lively performance. EPA
Ruben Neves - 8: Uncharacteristically sloppy during opening exchanges, but grew into game in second half. Kept cool to equalise from the penalty spot, sending McCarthy the wrong way. Played key role in the winner, assisting Neto with a lovely cushioned assist. AP
Joao Moutinho - 6: Sliced over early shot, and didn’t provide his typically cultured display. Distribution from set-pieces wasn’t at usual standard, but at least steadied himself after the interval as Wolves began to dominate possession. Committed until the end. EPA
Jonny - 7: A willing runner on the left-hand side, even if he got little joy in first half. However, began the second 45 brightly before being subbed off with 20 minutes left. Still working way back from ACL injury, and was seen nursing it with an ice-pack afterwards. AFP
Adama Traore - 7: Quiet opening, with poor touch when did get on the ball. Yet sparked into life after the break, including the driving run that set up Semedo’s winning of the penalty. Powerful play thereafter, albeit without the end product. Offered an outlet, though. AP
Pedro Neto - 8: Smothered completely by Walker-Peters in the opening 45 minutes, but thrived when switched to the opposite flank. Scored a stunner when he bamboozled Vestergaard before curling in from the angle – his first goal in 14 matches. Booked at the death, then subbed off. Getty
Willian Jose - 6: Almost non-existent in first half, characterised by a tame header from a deep corner. Began to link up play better in the second half, providing Wolves an obvious figurehead up front. Subbed off on 89 minutes as visitors’ sought to run down clock. AP
SUBS: Marcal - (On for Jonny 69') 5: Made his first appearance since Christmas. His initial contribution, though, was giving away a free-kick for hefty challenge on Redmond. Didn’t have much to offer thereafter, other than helping stymie Southampton’s attack. Getty
