Won titles in Denmark, England and Portugal - but it was his eight trophy-laden seasons at United for which he will always be remembered. Earned a national record 129 caps for Denmark and helped his country win the 1992 European Championship. When your father is the finest talent your country has ever produced – and considered one of the greatest players of all time – the spotlight on your own career inevitably shines far brighter.

Ianis Hagi, son of Romanian hero Gheorghe, has just signed a permanent deal with Scottish side Glasgow Rangers.

The pressure of the family name does not seem to faze the 21-year-old, who impressed Gers manager Steven Gerrard enough for the former Liverpool captain to make his loan move a permanent one.

Hagi senior said of his son's move: “Ianis has signed for the ideal club for him because he is working with an extraordinary manager who appreciates him very much and he’s playing for a great side.

“He has progressed, gained experience, he’s become more mature and he’s worked hard to get this transfer. He’s had to suffer a lot and he’s learned a lot."

To mark Hagi's move, we take a look at other footballers who have attempted to follow in their famous father's footsteps.

And considering some of them have made 900 appearances for AC Milan, won the African Footballer of the Year award three times or is considered one of the greatest players to have ever played the game, those footprints are very deep.

Recipe: Spirulina Coconut Brothie

Ingredients
1 tbsp Spirulina powder
1 banana
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk (full fat preferable)
1 tbsp fresh turmeric or turmeric powder
½ cup fresh spinach leaves
