Manchester United prepared for the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Granada with a peculiar focus – the backdrop at Old Trafford.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said United have changed the colour of the banners around the pitch at Old Trafford from red to black, after his players found it difficult to distinguish red shirts against the background.
"There shouldn't be any reason, really, but some of the players have mentioned that, you know, that split-second decision that you have to make, look over your shoulder if your team-mate's there or not and the red shirt is on a red background just with the red seats," the manager explained.
"So we've of course tried to change that along with an anti-racism campaign. Important that it wasn't red anymore."
The backdrop issue was not the only matter of concern for United as they trained on Wednesday. Marcus Rashford is a doubt for Thursday's match, where they carry a 2-0 advantage, after the 23-year-old missed training with an ongoing foot issue.
However Solskjaer has his "fingers crossed" he will be available.
Daniel James is back after missing the win over Tottenham, but Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay are suspended.
Anthony Martial and Phil Jones remain out, while Eric Bailly is unavailable despite returning to Manchester following a recent positive Covid-19 test.
