Baniyas were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Wahda but they walked off the pitch with heads high after completing their most successful Arabian Gulf League season.
They went into the final game on Tuesday trailing Al Jazira by a point and knew their title hopes were looking slim at half-time with the league leaders 2-0 up against Khorfakkan at the break at the Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium.
Gaston Alvarez put the home side ahead from the spot on 56 minutes but Wahda cancelled it through Omar Khrbin, who tapped in a cross from Ismail Matar 12 minutes later.
Nevertheless, it was a creditable performance from Baniyas, who can take a lot of credit and pride of their season.
Baniyas finished second in the 14-team league and took the league race on to the final round of matches but Jazira's 3-1 win meant they were crowned UAE champions for a third time.
Shabab Al Ahli edged out Al Nasr in a 3-2 thriller to take third spot before Sharjah who lost 1-0 to Kalba, while Ajman defeated Fujairah 2-1 to confirm their top-flight status.
Al Wasl overcame Al Dhafra 2-1 and Al Ain beat the relegated Hatta 1-0 in the other games.

Pharaoh's curse
British aristocrat Lord Carnarvon, who funded the expedition to find the Tutankhamun tomb, died in a Cairo hotel four months after the crypt was opened.
He had been in poor health for many years after a car crash, and a mosquito bite made worse by a shaving cut led to blood poisoning and pneumonia.
Reports at the time said Lord Carnarvon suffered from “pain as the inflammation affected the nasal passages and eyes”.
Decades later, scientists contended he had died of aspergillosis after inhaling spores of the fungus aspergillus in the tomb, which can lie dormant for months. The fact several others who entered were also found dead withiin a short time led to the myth of the curse.
