Premier League predictions: Liverpool and Newcastle to win big, Man City edge Chelsea

Saturday: Bournemouth v Nottingham Forest (7pm kick off UAE)

Two of the Premier League's surprise packages clash on England's south coast. Bournemouth produced one of the performances of the season when they destroyed Newcastle 4-1 last week. The Cherries are seventh in the table on the back of an 11-match unbeaten run.

Forest are up in third place, level on points with Arsenal in second, having beaten Southampton 3-2 which saw Chris Wood bag his 14th goal of the season.

Prediction: Bournemouth 2 Forest 2

Brighton v Everton (7pm)

Brighton are aiming for a third win on the spin after defeating Ipswich Town (2-0) and Manchester United (3-1) which has lifted them up to ninth place and back into contention for European qualification.

David Moyes secured his first win since returning as Everton manager when the Merseysiders beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2, ending a run of six league games without a victory and lifting them four points clear of the relegation zone.

Prediction: Brighton 2 Everton 1

Liverpool v Ipswich (7pm)

Two late goals from substitute Darwin Nunez secured Liverpool all three points at Brentford, stretching their lead at the top of the table to six points. Arne Slot's side also enjoy a game in hand on their nearest title challengers Arsenal and Forest.

Third-bottom Ipswich were on the wrong end of a six-goal battering last week as Manchester City ran riot at Portman Road. Could be more of the same at Anfield.

Southampton v Newcastle (7pm)

Rock-bottom Southampton fell to a fifth defeat in a row when they lost at Forest. The Saints have won just once in 22 games and are 10 points shy of safety.

Newcastle came back down to earth with a bump when their nine-game unbeaten run was ended in style by Bournemouth at St James' Park. The Magpies are sixth in the standings, two points off fourth place.

Prediction: Southampton 1 Newcastle 4

Wolves v Arsenal (7pm)

Wolves' 3-1 loss at Chelsea leaves the Midlands club outside the bottom three on goal difference and now looking to avoid a fourth defeat in a row.

Arsenal threw away a two-goal lead at home to Aston Villa, a second draw in three games which has seen the Gunners lose ground on Liverpool in the title race.

Prediction: Wolves 0 Arsenal 2

Manchester City v Chelsea (9.30pm)

Manchester City returned to winning ways with an emphatic 6-0 win at Ipswich which saw Phil Foden and Erling Haaland among the goals. City are up to fifth place, two points shy of the top four.

Chelsea ended a five-game run without a win by beating Wolves at Stamford Bridge, lifting them back up to fourth in the table.

Prediction: Man City 2 Chelsea 1

Sunday: Crystal Palace v Brentford (6pm)

Palace's third win in four games – 2-0 at West Ham United – means the Eagles are up to 12th place and are five matches unbeaten.

Brentford were on their way to a hard-fought point at home to Liverpool before conceding two injury-time goals as they continue to struggle for consistency results-wise.

Prediction: Palace 1 Brentford 0

Tottenham Hotspur v Leicester City (6pm)

Spurs' disastrous slump continued with last week's loss at Everton with Ange Postecoglou's side now having lost seven out of their previous 10 league games, leaving them 15th in the table.

Leicester are in the middle of an even worse run with last week's loss at home to Fulham making it seven consecutive defeats for the Foxes who are second bottom, two points from safety.

Prediction: Spurs 2 Leicester 0

Aston Villa v West Ham (8.30pm)

Goals from Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins helped Villa grab a point at Arsenal with Unai Emery's side now unbeaten in four games leaving them in eighth place, four points off the top four.

West Ham's home defeat to Palace means the Hammers have lost three out of their previous four games but remain 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

Prediction: Villa 2 West Ham 1

Fulham v Manchester United (11pm)

Fulham ended a three-game run without a win by defeating struggling Leicester 2-0 thanks to goals from Emile Smith-Rowe and substitute Adama Traore.

Another dismal defeat for Manchester United last week made it four losses in five home games for Ruben Amorim's side, who are seven points adrift of 10th-placed Fulham and 10 ahead of the relegation places.

Prediction: Fulham 3 United 2
