WALES PLAYER RATINGS: Wayne Hennessey - 8. The hero from the World Cup play-off match against Ukraine carried on his outstanding run of form and made a couple of really good saves. The pick of them was from De Bruyne when the Manchester City player tried his luck with a shot towards the near the post when it looked like he might cross. AFP
Ben Davies - 5. The defender was a threat at set pieces and joined the attack to good effect. Defended well for the most part, but was all over the place for the Belgium goal. His poor touch allowed Trossard to take advantage and set up Tielemans for the finish. PA
Joe Rodon - 6. The centre back looked uncomfortable in the opposition box as he ran around the ball to hit a right foot shot way over the bar just before the hour mark. He then got underneath a set piece with five minutes to go and his header had a similar outcome. Happier defending his own penalty area and did OK against the awkward Batshuayi. Getty
Chris Mepham - 6. The defender dealt with most things the wasteful Belgians threw at Wales. Won his headers, defended his box and used the ball well. Getty
Connor Roberts - 5. Snatched at the ball when it ricocheted to him in the box for one of Wales’ best chances. Worked hard and defended well. Replaced by Norrington-Davies after an hour. Getty
Neco Williams - 6. Worked well with Davies and James in a first half that Wales probably shaded. Good energy, but possibly lacked a bit of quality in the final third. AFP
Ethan Ampadu - 7. Had a lovely goal ruled out for offside after just five minutes when the midfielder smashed a rasping half volley past Casteels into the roof of the Belgium net, but unfortunately it didn’t count. A mature and controlled midfield performance. PA
Joe Allen - 5. Had to depart the action after 36 minutes with what looked like a hamstring problem. AP
Harry Wilson - 4. The midfielder kept it simple but didn’t make much of an impact in an attacking sense. AP
Gareth Bale - 6. Almost swept in the opening goal after 14 minutes but he could only flash wide at the near post under pressure. Always looked likely to produce a bit of quality that would open up the Belgium defence. AFP
Daniel James - 8. Always a threat with his pace, the Leeds United forward loves to play on the shoulder and he threatened to get in behind the Belgium back line at every opportunity and he had plenty of joy doing it. Caused Dendoncker and Boyata all sorts of problems. Getty
SUBS: Aaron Ramsey (Allen 38') - 7. Produced the touch of the match when he swivelled and flicked the ball in one movement and into the path of Brennan Johnson who made no mistake from eight yards out. Incredible piece of awareness and improvisation from the Juventus man. AP
Rhys Norrington-Davies (Roberts 60') - 6. Slotted into centre back and defended well. EPA
Brennan Johnson (Bale 73') 7 - The 21-year-old ran at the Belgium defence as soon as he was introduced. Dispatched Ramsey’s lovely flick first time with confidence and composure to earn his side a point. PA
Wes Burns (Wilson 73') N/A - Little impact for the quarter of an hour or so he was on the pitch. Getty
Rubin Colwill (Davies 73') - N/A. Defended well against poor Belgium attacking play in the latter stages. Getty
BELGIUM PLAYER RATINGS: Koen Casteels - 7. Relieved to see Ampadu’s fine strike chalked off early. Had a fairly comfortable night thereafter, until the Welsh equaliser which he couldn’t do anything to stop. Reuters
Arthur Theate - 7. Almost sent Roberts into orbit with a meaty challenge at the end of the first half. Didn’t allow many crosses from his side and defended well. Getty
Dedryck Boyata - 7. Covered for Dendoncker when James was played in behind numerous times during a first half where Wales looked dangerous. The defender was hardly troubled in the second half. PA
Leander Dendoncker - 6. Didn’t look comfortable with James playing in between him and on just off his shoulder, but asserted himself as the game progressed and Belgium took control. PA
Leandro Trossard - 5. The winger missed a golden opportunity in the first half when he couldn't sort his feet out as the ball broke after Batchuayi’s shot was blocked and he somehow put the ball wide when it looked easier to score. PA
Youri Tielemans - 8. Perfect timing of his run and an even better strike from the midfielder after a well worked move. Clinically side-footed his fifth international goal to open the scoring for the visitors early after half-time. AFP
Axel Witsel - 6. Did a lot of the ugly work in the Belgium engine room to allow others to probe in the final third. Quietly effective. AFP
Thomas Meunier - 5. Poor final ball from the wing-back, similar to Carrasco in terms of failing to pick out a Belgium attacker when it mattered. AFP
Yannick Carrasco - 4. Disappointing end product from the winger. Found himself with space and time on numerous occasions, but was unable to pick out a white shirt in the box. Subbed on the hour mark. PA
Michy Batshuayi - 7. Linked the play well as Belgium’s target man and brought others into play with clever touches. Nice weight of pass into Tielemans for the Belgium goal. Reuters
Kevin De Bruyne - 7. Forced a fine save from Hennesey as he tried to catch the Welsh keeper off guard by whipping in a near post effort at the end of the first half. Felt on the verge of doing something special, but he was unable to produce on this occasion. EPA
SUBS: Thorgen Hazard (Carrassco 61') - 6. Looked lively and threatened in and around the box. AFP
Eden Hazard (De Bruyne 72') - N/A. Wasteful at times and didn’t get up to the pace of the game. AFP
Dennis Praet (Trossard 72') - N/A. Made a minimal impact on the game. Getty
