Mohamed Salah insists contract negotiations with Liverpool not all about money

Liverpool's Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has revealed he has still not decided if he wants to stay at Liverpool beyond his current contract, even as he insisted negotiations are not all about money.

Salah will be out of contract at the end of next season and has yet to sign a new deal despite months of negotiations.

British media reported this month that the 29-year-old is looking for a deal with Liverpool to keep him at Anfield until the end of his career. Also, reports suggest Salah wants to be made the Premier League's highest-paid player, with wages of around £500,000 ($642,000) per week.

Earlier, manager Jurgen Klopp had said he is “very positive” that Salah will commit his future to Liverpool and insisted there was no need to worry even as contract talks with his top scorer dragged on.

Speaking to 'FourFourTwo' magazine, Salah suggested it was not certain he would remain with Klopp's side.

"I have one year left," said the forward. "I think the fans know what I want, but in the contract it's not everything about the money at all. So I don't know, I can't tell you exactly. I have one year left."

Salah has scored more than 150 goals for Liverpool since joining from AS Roma in 2017. He helped the Reds win their first Premier League title in 30 years in 2020, as well as the 2019 Champions League.

However, he offered some hope to Liverpool fans, stating: "This club means a lot to me. I've enjoyed my football here more than anywhere. I gave the club everything and everybody saw that.

"I've had a lot of unbelievable moments here, winning trophies, individual goals, individual trophies. It's like a family here."

Klopp's side are aiming to become the first English club to lift all four major trophies in a single season.

They have already won the League Cup, take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final in May and are locked in a tense Premier League title race with Manchester City, who are just one point ahead with six games left.

Liverpool also have one eye on the Champions League, with a semi-final first leg against Villarreal looming next week.
