BRIGHTON RATINGS: Robert Sanchez 7 - Not much to do throughout, but probably saved his side from losing the match after bringing Wilson down. PA
Joel Veltman 7 - Unlucky not to pick up an assist after his cross was narrowly diverted wide by Tariq Lamptey. Solid overall. Getty
Lewis Dunk 7 - Dealt with everything in a comfortable manner while commanding the Brighton defensive line. Getty
Shane Duffy 6 - Got in the way of shots and cleared the ball from dangerous crosses coming into the box. Handled the threat of Callum Wilson fairly well. PA
Marc Cucurella 6 - Not involved too much going forward in the first half but was brighter in the second. Came close to scoring but couldn’t get the connection on the ball needed. Reuters

Yves Bissouma 6 - Enjoyed the midfield battle which Brighton seemed to take control of after taking the lead, but his influence faded in the second half. Getty
Solly March 6 - A mixed game for Solly March as he came in and out of the game. He kept things simple for the most part and didn’t give away possession cheaply. PA
Adam Lallana 7 - Linked play well which helped Brighton attack from a range of positions. Had plenty of the ball and rarely turned over possession. Getty
Leandro Trossard 7 - A handful for defenders who struggled to get near to the Belgian forward. Won the penalty and dispatched it in an assured fashion. PA
SUBS: Alexis Mac Allister (Mwepu 46) 5 - Not the best display from MacAllister who is normally much more creative. Too many of his passes failed to find their intended target. Getty

Adam Webster (Lamptey 75) N/R - On for Lamptey for the final 15 to defend against the away side who were growing in confidence. Getty

Matt Ritchie 5 - Played very direct and it rarely came off for Ritchie today, who also wasn’t as accurate with his crossing as usual. Getty
Ciaran Clark 6 - The defender was reckless with his tackle that conceded a penalty but he made amends with an astute header that assisted Isaac Hayden. Reuters
Jamaal Lascelles 6 - Took a needless yellow card early on with a late challenge.but showed professionalism to click into gear from that point. Getty
Emil Krafth 6 - Got forward to put in some good crosses and worked tirelessly. A respectable performance on the whole. Getty
Jacob Murphy 7 - Showed intent when on the ball to try and make things happen for Newcastle going forward. Murphy was also solid in defence but could have been helped if his teammates matched his level of intensity. Getty
Jonjo Shelvey 5 - Was slow to move the ball but the away side did get the odd chance from Shelvey’s hopeful passes. The midfielder’s most questionable decision was not to take a strike from the freekick when Lewis Dunk was in goal. Getty
Isaac Hayden 7 - Made no mistake with the volley to level the scoring and was busy in the midfield to help earn back control for the away side. Reuters
Miguel Almiron 5 - A bright start seemed to fade with not much coming off for the 27-year-old. Eventually replaced in the 74th minute. Getty
Allan Saint-Maximin 6 - Crowded out a lot which meant we didn’t get to see the sort of runs we’re used to, but the Frenchman kept things simple and kept defenders occupied. Getty
Callum Wilson 6 - Worked hard but had very little to work with as his team resolved to hoofing the ball up the pitch. Almost won the game in the final minutes but was fouled by Robert Sanchez after he rounded him. Getty
