Dutch forward Memphis Depay continued his encouraging start to life at Barcelona after scoring the winner in Sunday's 2-1 win over Getafe as the Catalans stayed unbeaten in La Liga.
It was Depay’s second league goal since joining on a free transfer this summer to help Barca claim their second win from as many games at Camp Nou in the club's first season without Lionel Messi in nearly two decades.
Depay, who also scored in Barcelona's 1-1 draw at Athletic Bilbao last weekend, found the net against Getafe after a neat move inside the area, sending a low shot inside the near post in the 30th minute.
Spanish midfielder Sergi Roberto opened the scoring two minutes into the match after a cross by full-back Jordi Alba.
“We were coming off a draw so we needed the win no matter what ahead of the international break,” said Roberto, who had also scored in Barcelona’s 4-2 win against Real Sociedad in the season opener. “It was a difficult match but we came through with the victory.”
Getafe cancelled out Roberto's opener with a shot from Sandro Ramírez in the 18th minute for their first league goal of the season, but Depay's winner means they remain without a point from their first three games.
“It’s been a tough start to the season for us but we have to keep working hard to try to recover,” said Ramírez, a former Barcelona player.
Barcelona's Danish forward Martin Braithwaite had a goal disallowed for offside near the end of the match, and Depay nearly added his second from close range in the 85th minute, but sent the ball over the crossbar.
Barcelona, who played Getafe in front of 25,000 fans inside Camp Nou, move on to seven points, the same as rivals Real Madrid who won 1-0 at Real Betis on Saturday. Sevilla, Valencia and Mallorca also have seven points.
Sevilla also entered the weekend with two wins but was held to a 1-1 draw at Elche on Saturday.

What is Genes in Space?
Genes in Space is an annual competition first launched by the UAE Space Agency, The National and Boeing in 2015.
It challenges school pupils to design experiments to be conducted in space and it aims to encourage future talent for the UAE’s fledgling space industry. It is the first of its kind in the UAE and, as well as encouraging talent, it also aims to raise interest and awareness among the general population about space exploration.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
