Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has signed a two-year contract extension at Real Madrid. The Belgium international, who arrived at the La Liga giants from Chelsea in 2018, will now remain at the Bernabeu until 2026.
Courtois, 29, arrived from Chelsea in a €35 million transfer. Prior to his spell in London, he played for Atletico Madrid between 2011 and 2014.
On Saturday, Courtois played his 100th game for Real in La Liga in the 4-1 win at Alaves.
Courtois said on his official website: “The atmosphere in the changing rooms. The sound of fans cheering from the stands. Three years later, I’m happy to announce my contract extension with Real Madrid until 2026.
“My family and friends recently asked me where I’d like to play in the coming years. My answer remains the same today as it was when I was a little boy: Real Madrid.
“Adding two more years in the best shirt in the world makes that childhood dream even sweeter. I love being a part of Real Madrid. Prolonging my relationship with the Real Madrid family until 2026 is a true honour, and I’m so grateful to be so warmly welcomed here.
"This is going to be my fourth season at the club of my dreams," the Belgian added.
"It is an honour to have the opportunity to play for all these trophies. Personally, I hope to maintain and surpass the level I reached last season."
The distance learning plan
Spring break will be from March 8 - 19
Public school pupils will undergo distance learning from March 22 - April 2. School hours will be 8.30am to 1.30pm
Staff will be trained in distance learning programmes from March 15 - 19
Teaching hours will be 8am to 2pm during distance learning
Pupils will return to school for normal lessons from April 5

The Al Burda Festival is a celebration of Islamic art and culture, featuring talks, performances and exhibitions. Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, this one-day event opens with a session on the future of Islamic art. With this in mind, it is followed by a number of workshops and “masterclass” sessions in everything from calligraphy and typography to geometry and the origins of Islamic design. There will also be discussions on subjects including ‘Who is the Audience for Islamic Art?’ and ‘New Markets for Islamic Design.’ A live performance from Kuwaiti guitarist Yousif Yaseen should be one of the highlights of the day.
