Hussain Fadel was Kuwait's hero as his side booked their place in the Gulf Cup final last night at the expense of Iraq.
A 2-2 draw meant a penalty shoot-out, which went to sudden death, and Fadel hit the winner after Qussay Muneer Aboodi sent his shot over the bar as Kuwait reached their first final in 12 years.
Earlier, Bader al Mutawa scored the one of the fastest goals in tournament history as Kuwait took the lead in 30 seconds.
Iraq came back strongly to score twice within eight minutes through Hawar Mulla Mohammed and Alaa Abdul Zahra to take the lead in the 14th minute before Fahad al Enazi’s struck the equaliser nearing the hour to force the game into the tiebreak.
